NOXP sets up ahead of the gust front
NOXP sets up ahead of the gust front

We left Omaha and drove west past Lincoln, NE, to York. We staged in York for several hours. It is interesting how we may be at a location for several hours, but we never know that for sure. We get our food to go, we run to the restroom and run back — afraid we have missed something or the armada has left. V2 headed south towards the KS/NE border and set up near Fairbury, NE. One team saw a gustnado, pea to penny size hail was documented, radars were deployed and scanned the storm as it came overhead. NOXP set up at the Fairbury municipal airport. Airport sites are preferred because they have a wide open generally flat area for the radar to be set up and good visibility in most directions. NOXP scanned until the particle probes (disdrometers) were done with their data collection. We all then drove two hours to our next hotel!
