{"id":132,"date":"2016-03-28T13:39:32","date_gmt":"2016-03-28T18:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inside.nssl.noaa.gov\/vortexse\/?p=132"},"modified":"2016-03-28T13:39:32","modified_gmt":"2016-03-28T18:39:32","slug":"status-28-mar-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inside.nssl.noaa.gov\/vortexse\/2016\/03\/status-28-mar-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"STATUS: 28 Mar 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STATUS: IOP<\/p>\n<p>We have decided to have an IOP on Thur Mar 31. \u00a0Based on current guidance, operations would commence around sunrise.<\/p>\n<p>The system we are watching is forecast to have two phases&#8230; an early phase on Thur morning with very strong low-level shear but surface-based CAPE likely not present (but with considerable rain and thunderstorms feeding on potentially buoyant air aloft), and an afternoon-evening phase with a buildup of surface-based CAPE to &gt; 1000 J\/kg, but a steadily weakening low-level wind profile. \u00a0These model details are uncertain, so the investigators have opted to declare an IOP. \u00a0There is a chance that if the forecast becomes negative tomorrow, the IOP will be canceled at the 1 PM briefing.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond this week&#8217;s event, there are no signs of significant severe weather potential in the first third of April.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STATUS: IOP We have decided to have an IOP on Thur Mar 31. \u00a0Based on current guidance, operations would commence around sunrise.
