Visually, it tended to underdue the CAPE values in the environment, especially in the low to mid levels.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-18115\" src=\"https:\/\/inside.nssl.noaa.gov\/ewp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/06\/ModifiedNUCAPS.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"286\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inside.nssl.noaa.gov\/ewp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/06\/ModifiedNUCAPS.png 1508w, https:\/\/inside.nssl.noaa.gov\/ewp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/06\/ModifiedNUCAPS-900x386.png 900w, https:\/\/inside.nssl.noaa.gov\/ewp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/06\/ModifiedNUCAPS-768x329.png 768w, https:\/\/inside.nssl.noaa.gov\/ewp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/06\/ModifiedNUCAPS-600x257.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 100vw, (max-width: 1200px) 60vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The modified NUCAPS sounding (above) did show some skill in incorporating more accurate boundary layer conditions, which in turn, upped the CAPE values considerably (almost 2x in some cases).
