{"id":317,"date":"2019-08-27T14:24:17","date_gmt":"2019-08-27T19:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ensmith.oucreate.com\/?page_id=317"},"modified":"2019-08-27T14:24:17","modified_gmt":"2019-08-27T19:24:17","slug":"perdigao-2017","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/inside.nssl.noaa.gov\/ensmith\/perdigao-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Perdig\u00e3o (2017)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The goal of Perdig\u00e3o (which took place near Perdig\u00e3o, Portugal) was to \u00a0improve our understanding of flow over complex terrain, including any effects of vegetation and heterogeneity at the surface, with a specific target of improving wind prediction in complex terrain at microscale. Of particular interest is the assessment of wind resources for the wind energy community. \u00a0Perdig\u00e3o collected a reference data set at an unprecedented spatial resolution, characterizing both the mean and turbulent wind fields in a natural setting. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rd3MUG715Bs\">Watch a cool video summarizing the project here<\/a>! My role in Perdig\u00e3o was to serve as OU team-lead, operate a miniature and modular version of the CLAMPS platform, and assist NCAR-EOL with routine and mission-targeted radiosonde
