Various observation methods were used to explore real-time targeting of pre- and near-storm observations to improve numerical model forecasts of thunderstorms. My role in mini-MPEX was to operate the NOAA\/NSSL CLAMPS2 platform to collect thermodynamic and kinematic profiles and launch radiosondes in pre- and near-storm environments. These days were easier than PECAN deployments, but often it was just me and one other person in CLAMPS making the workload heavier (and resulting in fewer photos).
